Lyme disease is an infection that can get transmitted through the bite of a tick, and it can affect not only dogs but humans, too. While Lyme disease isn’t necessarily an issue in Houston, we recommend the vaccine for any pets that are traveling out of state, especially to the east coast.

More common areas of the United States where you can find Lyme disease include the:

  • Northeast
  • Mid-Atlantic states
  • Upper Midwest

Signs of Lyme disease sometimes don’t appear until months after a dog is infected, and some dogs may not show any signs at all. If your pet does have symptoms, they will typically include:

  • Lethargy
  • Fever
  • Painful joints/lameness
  • Loss of appetite

If you’ve got a pet who is originally not from our area, goes on frequent trips or if you’d just like to get your best friend vaccinated against Lyme disease, contact us at 713-659-0650.
