At Garden Oaks Veterinary Clinic, we pride ourselves on being an exceptional animal hospital that both clients and pets trust. Because of this, we are constantly working very hard to make sure that our practice and our veterinary care techniques are of the highest quality.
One of the main ways that we have demonstrated our excellence has been through our consistent AAHA-accreditation. We recently completed our annual inspection and we’re proud to announce that we were once again accredited for the third straight year in a row. We will always work hard to maintain this badge of honor, because we want your pets to receive the best veterinary care possible.
So, what exactly does it mean to be AAHA accredited?
First off, AAHA stands for the American Animal Hospital Association, which is the only organization that accredits vet hospitals in the U.S. and Canada, so they set the standards for quality veterinary care.
AAHA accreditation is not a legal requirement here in the U.S.—in fact, there are more hospitals that aren’t accredited than those that are. This essentially creates two classes of veterinarians—there are AAHA accredited veterinary hospitals, and then there are just veterinary hospitals.
To earn AAHA accreditation, GOVC had to demonstrate that we are:
- Thorough—we rigorously examine every part of your
pet, including their heart, lungs, eyes, ears, mouth and more. Also, when your
animal is under anesthesia, our team and our equipment are completely attentive
to make sure your pet is safe.
- Responsive—emergencies happen, and when they do occur,
GOVC is prepared and has the vital supplies appropriately stocked and clearly
labeled, because every second counts.
- Sanitary—our practice is squeaky clean to prevent
disease from spreading, and we are always constantly washing our hands, using
antibacterial agents and disinfecting all patient areas.
- Safe—you trust us with your pet, and we honor
that trust. We stop at nothing to make sure your best friend is comfortable
during an appointment. Our staff is trained in proper restraint techniques and
we are always compassionate with our care and handling.
Along with those traits, our veterinary protocols have also been thoroughly vetted regarding vaccinations, pain management, preventative healthcare, dental care, weight management, infection control and so much more.
You might say that AAHA-accredited hospitals are the pick of the litter—demonstrating that your veterinarian has gone above and beyond to make sure that your pet gets the best quality care possible.
We encourage you to learn more about AAHA by visiting their website, or you can call us at (713) 999-6095 with any questions you may have about our hospital and our accreditation.
We look forward to continuing to care for your pets!
