We are excited to announce that on February 19, we passed our AAHA re-accreditation evaluation!
Now you might be asking yourself, “Aa…ha…what?” AAHA! The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), is the only organization to accredit companion animal veterinary hospitals. In order to become accredited, practices are evaluated on over 900 standards of veterinary care in all of the following areas:
- Anesthesia
- Surgery
- Patient Care
- Pain Management
- Dentistry
- Laboratory
- Contagious Disease
- Pharmacy
- Diagnostic Imaging
- Examination Facilities
- Housekeeping & Maintenance
- Client Service
- Medical Records
- Referral Standards
- Leadership
- Continuing Education
- Human Resources
- Safety
We first became accredited in 2016, but we must be evaluated every 3 years to maintain our status. During this time, our hospital is inspected by an accreditation specialist who spends the entire day observing our team and ensuring that we are meeting all necessary requirements to uphold the highest standards of veterinary excellence.
So what does this mean for you? It means that when you trust GOVC with your pet, we can guarantee the transparency, accountability, and excellence that every pet parent deserves. Contrary to what many people think, only 12-15% of veterinary hospitals in the US and Canada are accredited, and we are proud to be the only accredited practice in our community. We are thrilled to have earned this title once again and to show our clients that we hold ourselves to a higher standard.
Have questions about AAHA? We’d love to answer them!
